The Public Safety Training Academy offers courses for EMS. Please see the list of courses offered below and use the Registration Form for each course you will be attending.
The American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) course provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to assess, recognize, and care for patients who are experiencing respiratory arrest, airway obstruction, or opioid overdose. When a patient experiences a life-threatening emergency, healthcare providers need to act swiftly and promptly. The course emphasizes providing high-quality care and integrating psychomotor skills with critical thinking and problem-solving to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.

• This class is intended for EMTs in the Sussex County region and will get priority registration for this class. EMTs from outside the region will be put on the waitlist and pulled in for available seats in the order of expiration.
No walk-in students can be permitted into this session.
Payment Options:
This session is covered under the New Jersey Training Fund for qualified, volunteer departments.
Registration is $95.00: Credit Card and Department Purchase Orders are accepted.
Payment must be presented to the instructor at sign-in on the day of class. If you do not have your payment or it is incorrect, you may not be admitted into the class.
Session Requirements:
All students must bring a valid Picture ID and a copy of their valid Healthcare Provider CPR card.
*If your CPR is expired, you cannot attend this session.
Any NREMT paperwork that needs to be signed off on, must be presented to the instructors at the beginning of the session.
Any student challenging the NREMT exam or getting NJ reciprocity must have their state ID prior to the start of the session to get credit. For further information please follow the links below.

How to Apply for New Jersey EMT Reciprocity
EMT Refresher:
The Refresher program has been divided into three sections: Airway, Medical, and Trauma. Each section is an 8-hour program and does not need to be completed as a set. Students are required to attend all three sessions, in order to utilize these CEUs for their re-certification. Each session of the refresher is worth 8 CEUs.
*Students should not select the recertification option on the site website until they have received credit for all three refresher sessions and obtained 24 elective CEUs.
