Dear Adjunct Faculty:

Greetings! We are pleased you are part of our faculty here at Sussex County Community College for the Fall 2018 Semester. To those of you who are new to our team, all of us in Academic Affairs say welcome!  To those of you returning to the team, welcome back!

Adjunct faculty are an integral part of our academic team.  We shall provide training and knowledge opportunities at orientation and other venues throughout the semester.  The Fall 2018 Adjunct Faculty Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  We will begin together in the “D” Building Student Center cafeteria with dinner followed by a presentation by representatives of Academic Affairs, Student Services, Institutional Research, and Human Resources. Following dinner, Department Chairs and Program Coordinators will convene individual department-based sessions.  We encourage all our adjunct faculty members to attend.

For those of you who have yet to complete your required pension paperwork, please call Daniel DeCepoli at 973-300-2772 to schedule an appointment to complete this paperwork.  Also, New Jersey teachers may request a certificate of attendance for 3 ½  hours to be credited towards the 100-hour New Jersey teachers’ requirement by contacting Linda Connor, lconnor@sussex.edu, 973-300-2132 in the Office of Academic Affairs.

You are invited to attend the Fall 2018 All College General Session on Tuesday, August 28 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the Performing Arts Center at SCCC.

Of special note, on Friday, August 31, 2018, Honest Conversations, a professional training day with Diane Sauter-Davis is being offered for adjunct faculty.

I know I speak for all the members of our college community when I say we are excited about launching a new learning opportunity for our students! In the words of Joseph Joubert “To teach is to learn twice.”
