Mia Sciabica, a Sussex County Community College student, has been named a 2025 Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar and will receive a $1,250 scholarship.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver, and 50 Bronze Scholars with nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Each scholar also receives a commemorative medallion.

Students are nominated for the academic team by their college administrators. Selection is based on academic achievement, leadership, and engagement in college and community service.

Mia is in the Communications/Broadcasting program at SCCC and will graduate this May. She will then pursue a Communications and Digital Media degree at Montclair State University or the College of New Jersey.

"I chose SCCC to begin my formal education as it provided me with a tight-knit environment and affordable education," commented Mia. "It allowed me to continue working while pursuing my education since I funded it on my own. This scholarship is fundamental to furthering my education and reaching my long-term goals. I am thrilled to be alongside such intelligent and hardworking students as a silver scholar of the Coca-Cola Academic Team.”

"We are immensely proud of Mia Sciabica for her outstanding achievement as a 2025 Coca-Cola Academic Team Silver Scholar," stated Interim President Dr. Cory Homer. "Her dedication to academic excellence and community impact exemplifies the values we uphold at Sussex County Community College. This scholarship recognizes Mia's hard work and inspires other students to pursue their academic goals with determination and purpose."

Coca-Cola Academic Team members will be recognized in both local and statewide ceremonies. The students will also be recognized internationally during Phi Theta Kappa's annual PTK Catalyst convention in Kansas City, Missouri, April 3-5.

"The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation has a long history of providing financial assistance to outstanding students at community colleges," said Jane Hale Hopkins, President of the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. "We are proud to partner with Phi Theta Kappa to make it possible for more deserving students to achieve their educational goals and support tomorrow's global community leaders."
