Sussex County Community College (SCCC) is pleased to announce a significant reduction in fees associated with its Credit for Prior Learning program, an initiative designed to help students translate their professional, military, and life experiences into academic credits. Recognizing that learning is not limited to the classroom, SCCC allows students to earn credits toward certificates or degrees by demonstrating proficiency in skills and knowledge that align with course learning outcomes.
Effective immediately, the cost of the Credit for Prior Learning process has been reduced to $50 per credit hour, representing substantial savings for students seeking to apply real-world experience to their education. With this reduced rate, students can save approximately $196 for a typical three-credit course, making higher education more affordable and accessible to those balancing their academic pursuits with work, family, or other commitments.
SCCC’s Credit for Prior Learning program involves a thorough review and assessment process. This process evaluates each student’s life and work experiences to determine alignment with course objectives and subject matter mastery. This approach supports students in accelerating their educational journey while potentially reducing the financial burden of earning a degree or certificate.
