Student and Campus Safety

The Office of Campus Safety and Security is an integral part of the campus community and a positive presence on our campus. All members of the department strive to be sensitive to the needs of all while protecting the rights and property of the campus community.

Security Officers respond to all issues and emergencies on campus. If warranted, security shall contact emergency services for Police/Fire/EMS response. Security Officers are not armed and do not have police powers, but they will assist you. Security Officers have received First Aid, CPR, and AED training in addition to instruction in campus public safety procedures.

The College also has a working relationship with the Newton Police Department. Their officers periodically patrol the campus, maintaining public order, crime prevention and providing for the enforcement of local and state laws.

Sussex offers the Regroup Alert System and serves as the primary method of communication for emergencies, timely warnings, and closings. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to enroll in Regroup for their safety and well-being.
