Hello, SCCC alumni!
My name is Michael Crispino, and I am a proud alumnus of the college. I graduated in the spring of 2024 with an associate's degree in Liberal Arts. Upon graduation, I was presented with the opportunity to run for a position on the Board of Trustees as the Alumni Representative. Initially, this felt like a daunting task, especially as I was preparing for a new chapter in my own life. Currently, I am continuing my education at Rutgers University, pursuing undergraduate degrees in Cognitive Science and Psychology. Despite the many moving parts, I couldn’t pass up the chance to give back to a community that gave me so much and helped me find myself.
Serving on the Board of Trustees has been an eye-opening experience, as I’ve learned about the “ins and outs” of the administration at SCCC and, more importantly, how much work goes on behind the scenes. With the help of Interim President Dr. Cory Homer. Chief of Staff Wendy Fullem, and Executive Foundation Director Stan Kula, I’ve had the opportunity to lead a project that supports my fellow alumni by establishing the Alumni Association of Sussex County Community College.
Conversations about the Alumni Association began in the summer, and I’m ecstatic to see the project finally coming to fruition. The goal of the Alumni Association is to provide SCCC alumni with tools to supplement their career or educational endeavors, offer opportunities to network, reconnect with classmates and staff, and attend recreational celebratory events. I am passionate about this project because I want others to share the same pride and gratitude that I feel about graduating from SCCC. Though we are small, the Skylander community is tight-knit, filled with love, wisdom, and resources for success — something that should not be taken for granted.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you might have about the Alumni Association.
