Resources for Students in Advising and Counseling

Academic Planning and Advising is an important part of your education and planning your goals.

  • Explore programs of study
  • Select a program that matches your professional goals and creating an academic plan
  • Choose the right courses each semester
  • Find the services and support you may need throughout your journey

It is recommended that you seek advisement well in advance of upcoming registration dates. Advising is ongoing throughout your college education, make sure to connect with your advisor to map out your academic plan early.

  • For students that have completed 24 or fewer credits you will visit the Advising and Counseling Center for advisement. However, there are several majors that will be assigned to a faculty advisor.
  • If you have completed 25 or more credits, you will be assigned a faculty advisor. Your faculty advisor’s information is also located on your My Sussex student portal.

You can keep track of which courses you have taken and which courses are still required by following your major’s checksheet. Checksheets are available online, in the College Catalog, and in the Advising and Counseling Center.
