Annual Scholarships

Each year local businesses, friends, service organizations, and SCCC partners provide essential funds for student support through an annual scholarship. The minimum to fund an Annual Scholarship is $250.

To qualify for financial need scholarships, students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

1. To get started, either register or log-in to an account in the scholarship portal, AwardSpring

2. Develop a 500-800 word essay that creatively illustrates who you are as a person, your future goals, and why you should be awarded a scholarship. This essay is an opportunity to reflect on your lived experience, any challenges you might have faced, and how you persevered through those difficulties. This is your time to consider your resilience as both a student and a person; it is an opportunity to assess how scholarship aid would help you to continue to pursue the academic and professional goals you are willing to fight so hard for.

3. To help develop a successful essay, work with a consultant in the Writing Center (Student Center, D111A); they will help you develop an essay that will show the committee why you deserve to be awarded a scholarship. You can register for an account and/or schedule an in-person or online Writing Center appointment.

4. Upload your scholarship essay to the portal. Search through the available bank of scholarships and apply for the awards that are applicable to you.

Note: Some scholarships require an additional essay. Make sure to read the instructions carefully for each scholarship you apply to, and feel free to use the Writing Center to develop any additional writing.
