Endowed Scholarships

Endowment scholarships are established by local businesses, friends, service organizations, and SCCC partners to create a lasting support legacy. Many of our endowed scholarships are established in memory or in honor of a loved one, starting at $10,000.

Scholarship applications open May 1, 2022. To qualify for “financial need” scholarships, students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

All scholarship applicants must submit a letter of recommendation, which is done electronically within the application itself, along with a personal essay. We suggest an essay length between 250 and 500 words. Submit an essay using the following questions as a guide:

  • Please help us get to know you briefly. Tell us about yourself, your hopes and dreams, and how you became today’s person you are.
  • Why do you feel you are deserving of this scholarship?
  • Why is a college education important to you?
  • What are your future college and career plans?

Please note: Some scholarships may require an additional essay. Please check the individual scholarship criteria.

Justin Christian Memorial Annual Scholarship was created in remembrance of Justin Chamber. Justin graduated with a BS degree in Sports Management in 2010. Justin did his internship in the athletic department at Sussex County Community College. Following graduation, Justin worked the summer at Skylands Stadium in Augusta, New Jersey as a clubhouse manager for the baseball team, Sussex Skyhawks. In the fall of 2010, a position in the athletic department at Sussex County Community College was advertised, and Justin eagerly applied. He was offered the part-time athletic assistant position. He worked closely with the softball team and assisted with the summer youth camps during his employment. Justin loved his job working with the youngsters and student-athletes. Tragically, Justin died suddenly at 26 in 2014 after a brief illness. A memorial banner dedicated to his memory is displayed in the gymnasium at Sussex County Community College.
