Tuition Waivers

Auditing Classes

Students may enroll, tuition free, for an audited class, however, all course-specific fees will apply. If there are additional supplies students are typically responsible to provide when fully enrolled in a given course, then that same responsibility will exist for a student intending to audit the same course.

Unemployment Person Tuition Waiver

Sussex County residents who have received tuition waivers may register two business days before the start of the semester. Students are required to file a "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA). The student must register with One-Stop Career Center before registration.

All approved tuition waivers must be processed for space availability through the appropriate Registrar and Bursar's Office at SCCC. UPP covers General Fees and Tuition. However, the student is responsible for the remaining fees at the time of registration.

A student cannot register in advance ("save a seat") and then submit the tuition waiver two days prior to the start of classes. The tuition waiver will not be applied retroactively.

Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver

Sussex County, NJ and Pike County, PA residents 65 years and older are entitled to free tuition and fees (Lab fees are not included) or eligible for college-level courses.

These conditions apply:

  • the class must be eligible for the senior citizen free tuition (enrollment excludes trade or field experience courses, as well as some Lab courses);
  • paid enrollment warrants the course being conducted;
  • there must be sufficient space available in the class; and
  • registration for the course must occur only during the final two business days before the start of the semester. Applicants who opt to register earlier are not eligible for free tuition.

Applicants may take the course for college credit or may choose to audit the course. Applicants must present proof of eligibility.
