First Time New Students

Thank you for choosing Sussex County Community College as the place to begin your education. We pride ourselves on giving you the individualized attention you need to be successful.

There are many degrees and certificate programs to get you started on the right path to earning an associate degree or enter the workforce. Check the list of programs we offer to see what suits your interests. Take the next steps below to begin your journey!

The Admissions Process:

Step 1: Apply for Admission

On the Application under Admissions Status, please choose First-time students. Once your application is processed, you will be issued a Student ID number. For questions, contact Admissions: admissions@sussex.edu

Step 2 (Optional): Apply for Financial Aid

Visit https://studentaid.gov/ to apply. The Sussex School Code is 025688. Once you complete your FAFSA and register for classes, contact the Financial Aid Office to determine your aid status at 973-300-2225. Please note: You can still register for classes if you have not completed your FAFSA.

Step 3: Register for Classes

After you apply, browse classes, book an appointment, and stop in the Student Success Center (in the Administration Building (B), Room B206) to register for classes. Register early to secure a great schedule. For questions, contact: advising@sussex.edu

Step 4: Pay your tuition

Tuition payments can be made online or in person. Students can sign up for an Interest-free Payment Plan. Contact the Bursar’s Office: bursar@sussex.edu

Attend New Student Orientation

Get Your Student Photo ID: Stop by the Security Office in the Student Center (D) Building during regular hours to have your photograph taken and get your Student ID. Bring a photo ID and proof of registration for verification.

Activate your Sussex Online Tools: Once you register, you will be issued a student email account and My Sussex login. Set up your student email immediately to receive important college-related information.
My Sussex is the online student portal that will give you easy access to your

  • financial aid and more
  • Attend New Student Orientation: Connect to our campus! Students are required to participate in the Fall/Spring Orientation that will help them begin their education at Sussex. This half-day event is filled with a motivational speaker, meeting new classmates, and getting to know our campus! Don’t miss it!
